About the speakers:
Tom McDonough is the founder and managing partner of TJM Capital Partners, a boutique, operationally-focused private equity firm in Chicago. Tom has both an MBA and law degrees from Northwestern University and currently teaches at Northwestern’s Pritzker School of Law.
Joan Rockey is the CFO of Simplex Trading, LLC, a leading Chicago-based options market maker and liquidity provider that uses advanced technology to capitalize on financial market opportunities. Prior to Simplex, Joan has held CFO roles at venture capital, multi-family office, national wealth management, traditional money management, hedge fund, and broker-dealer firms. Her strategic roles have focused on private and PE-owned middle market companies experiencing change through M&A, high-growth, and financial & operational restructurings. She started her career at Ernst & Young's Management Consulting arm, providing reorganization and restructuring services to publicly held companies and private equity firms. Joan holds a Master of Taxation and a Master of Finance from DePaul University, as well as a Bachelor of Accountancy from the University of Illinois at Urbana-Champaign. She also holds the CPA, CFA, CGMA, CMA, CAIA, and FINRA Series 27 (Financial and Operations Principal) designations.
