Guidelines for Use of the CFE Membership Directory

As a networking organization, CFE encourages its members to communicate with each other regarding their professional and community activities. The following guidelines for use of CFE’s Membership List (the “List”) have been formulated to facilitate written communication among members on these topics. At the same time CFE wishes to restrict access to our membership list to prevent its use for purposes other than those which specifically benefit CFE members.

I.  Use Only by Members Personally. The List may not be provided to any third party organization or individual, even one with which a Member is affiliated. The List should never be provided for use in a mass mailing.

II.   Use for Employment or Other Business Related Purposes. CFE encourages use of the List for business purposes, so long as the Member is the person making the contact. Telephone follow-up to written materials should be undertaken judiciously.

III.  Use for Not-for-Profit Solicitation. Members may use the List to seek contributions or attendance at functions for organizations with which the Member is affiliated. Any such mailing should be clearly identified as coming from the Member by means of a personal cover letter or note. Printed materials listing a CFE member as being on the board of a not-for-profit organization do not qualify as “personalized.”

IV. Ability to Opt Out. Any Member who does not wish to receive written material from other CFE members will be noted as such in the List. Members using the List should exclude the names of members who have indicated such a preference from any mailing done.
